At last, make a point to feature any cr itical scholastic accomplishments like grants, being named to the respect move, etc.Professional Resume LayoutIf you need to be considered for an expert position, your resume would be advised to peruse and look proficient. 3 Inevitable Career Struggles and How to Learn from Them %
3 Inevitable Career âStrugglesâ and How to Learn from Them % 3 Inevitable Career âStrugglesâ and How to Learn from Them Everybodyâs career will have ebbs and flows, challenges, and opportunities. No matter how great someoneâs journey may look on paper, everyone goes through career and business struggles. Even those who may appear to transition seamlessly from one great job to the next run into struggles throughout the course of their career â" how you bounce back and move forward is what defines true success. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Luvleen Sidhu, who at the young age of 28 co-founded BankMobile, Americaâs largest and fastest-growing mobile-first bank. Even though she came from a banking family, Luvleen didnât envision a career in banking. After opening a bank account in college, she realized how uninspiring and complicated the process was. Importantly, she didnât feel like she had a âpartnerâ in her bank to help navigate finances and build a strong financial foundation. In business school she was trained to think like an entrepreneur and look for opportunities where customer pain points werenât being addressed and to build a business around it. This coupled with her previous personal banking experiences felt like areas she could improve upon, which lead her to her business idea of mobile banking. Luvleen shared some of her career struggles and how sheâs learned to combat them. THE STRUGGLE: How to make a change or pivot your plan mid-stream. She recognized the method of banking in the United States is a pain point for most people; so, Luvleen took the opportunity to create something new with a fresh perspective and created a digital bank. After the digital bank launched, the team realized that their original direct-to-consumer strategy did not enable the growth needed. They needed to sign up more customers and at lower acquisition costs. While they didnât want to stray from the mission of providing an effortless and affordable banking platform, they recognized they had to pivot their strategy. They devise a business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) strategy by acquiring a platform that enabled us to partner with colleges and universities around the country. Their willingness to be flexible and pivot, enabled them to open ~300K accounts a year (they currently have 2 million students banking with them). THE LESSON: Flexibility and thinking creatively are keys to success. THE STRUGGLE: How to handle competition and find your niche. All businesses will have competition in some form or another. Recognizing your competition and embracing what they have created in the market offers inspiration to continue to innovate and stay one step ahead. Although BankMobileâs mission and values differ from the âbig banksâ they are still their biggest competitors (big banks hold 50% of overall customer deposits). Instead of being intimidated by these institutions and their considerable customer base, they leveraged pain points their customers experience and created a better product. Since BankMobileâs launch in 2015, a number of other digital banking startups have entered the marketplace. Instead of looking at competition as a negative, they now take it as inspiration and motivation to see what customers value in the digital banking model. THE LESSON: Embrace competition and use it as motivation for future change. It may sound silly but give your job search effort a name. You can name it after yourself, your dog, or your most desired company to work for. Call it, âMy Job Winning Project,â âJob Search Mission,â âMission Microsoft,â or âProject Fred.â Name the initiative or job search effort and celebrate your effort when you win the job youâve been wanting. THE STRUGGLE: How to let go of 10% Thinking. 10% Thinking is the theory that whatever youâre working towards, you should improve the process in 10% increments. While this can be an efficient practice, 10% improvements is just not enough to be an extraordinary company. On the other hand, âMoonshot Thinking,â comes from the idea of landing a man on the moon when this was only a dream â" a âmoonshot.â Letting go of 10% Thinking and instead focusing on 10x Thinking is where you will start to see a tangible change. If they had only worked to improve BankMobile in increments of 10%, they wouldnât have achieved what they have in less than five years â" being one of Americaâs largest and fastest-growing digital banks. THE LESSON: While it may sound cliché, thinking big is the best way to significantly improve and get real results. It is important to identify that the journey to career success is exactly that â" a journey. It takes discipline, practice, and some serious self-reflection. No matter what your career path or business is, everyone will likely face roadblocks or feel defeated. The secret to success is to push through the struggles and then learn from and apply the lessons. It could include uppercase alphabets, lowercase alphabets, numeric and special characters. You could also choose to enable automatic loginandhome folder encryption. This prevents people from accessing your personal files just in case the machine is lost or stolen. But if you enable home folder encryption and you happen to forget your password, you wont be able to retrieve any personal data stored in your home folder, thats a con. I am not trying to scare you, I promise!Step 8: Background InstallationThe installer begins by telling you a little bit about how awesome is Ubuntu, while it completes in the background. Th is should only take a few moments.Step 9: InstallationComplete! Now your Distribution has been installed and configured. A small window will appear before you, asking you to restart your machine. Click onRestart Nowand when the prompt is displayed, remove either the DVD or flash drive youve plugged in.Kudos! You have now successfully installed the Worlds most popular Linux OS!Alternate Method: Download Ubuntu on your Virtual MachineThere are several ways to install Ubuntu. If you want to use Ubuntu without making any changes in your Windows system, you can go the virtual machine way. Basically, you install and use this distribution like any regular Windows application. When you just want to try a Linux distro (Ubuntu in this case) for limited use, virtual machines provide a more comfortable option.1. Download and install Virtual BoxGo to the official website of Oracle Virtual Box and get the latest stable version.Installing Virtual Box is no rocket science. Just double-click on the d ownloaded .exe file to run it and follow the instructions on the screen. It is like installing regular software on Windows.2. Download Linux ISONext, you need to download the ISO file of the Linux distribution,i.e, Ubuntu. You can get this image from this link.3. Install Ubuntu using Virtual BoxNow, you have installed Virtual Box and downloaded the ISO for Linux. You are now all set to install Linux in Virtual Box.Start Virtual Box, and click on the New Symbol( it looks like a blue star). Give the virtual OS a relevant name, Id reckon you give the name of the distro youre going to install Ubuntu.Allocate RAM to the virtual OS. My system has 8 GB of RAM and I decided to allocate 4 GB of RAM to it. You can use extra RAM if your system has more RAM.Create a virtual disk. This works like the hard disk of the virtual Linux system. This is where the virtual system will store its files. I, personally, would go for the VDI type file, here. You can choose either to Dynamically allocate or a Fixed size option for creating the virtual hard disk. The recommended size is 10 GB.Once everything is in place, its time to boot that ISO and install Ubuntu as a virtual operating system. If Virtual Box doesnt detect the Linux ISO, browse to its location by clicking the folder icon as shown in the picture.Soon youll find yourself inside Linux. Youll end up with the option to install it.Things from here are Ubuntu specific. From here you can continue with Step 2.I hope you found this guide helpful. If you need, you can change the boot order easily tomake Ubuntu your default OS. But thats a story for another day. For now, you can go ahead, experiment and enjoy this beautiful, beginner-friendly Linux distribution.Recommended videos for you Linux Administration : Past, Present is the Future Watch NowRecommended blogs for you Linux Making The Right Career Choice Read Article Unix vs Linux: Difference and Comparison Read Article 20 Linux Commands Youll Actually Use In Your Life Read Ar ticle What is Linux Mint and how is it better than Ubuntu? Inspiring words, valuable quotes, reality, insight....
Inspiring words, valuable quotes, reality, insight.... All of this from only one man,Dennis DesRosiers.During one of my late nightchannel hopping excursions, my attention was immediately caught by the words of Mr. DesRosier during aFocus Ontario interview. He was matter-of-fact, to the point, provided information with facts and statistics and was easily recognized as someone who is not easily intimidated. His expertise in the auto industry is indisputable and he voices his concerns openly, including his opinion that the auto unions have been asleep for the past 20 years! In 1985 he founded DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc., the only consulting and market research company in Canada that specializes in the automotive sector. www.desrosiers.ca Dennis DesRosiers is also recognized for supporting his home town of Windsor, Ontario and presented a speech, that Chris Schnurr posts on his blog in its entirety, http://chrisschnurr.wordpress.com. Chris Vander Doeler alsowrites about it in the Windsor Star along with numerous other articles if you search for Dennis DesRosiers, http://tinyurl.com/55vswa. During his Windsor speech, Mr. DesRosiers commented on leadership, acknowledging LeeIacoccas book, Where Have All the Leaders Gone?, which states that the principal role of leadership is to confront, understand and explain reality head on, to develop realistic and achievable strategies and solutions and to marshal the necessary resources forsuccessful outcomes. The following are a few more of his commentsand inspiring words: Confronting reality requires honesty and putting oneself at risk. Thatmy friendsis leadership putting ourselves at risk. Its somewhat ironic that leaders who employ the strategy of not confronting reality to avoid failing, are in reality making failure more likely. When the ostrich sticks its head in the sand, which end is up?With ones headin the sand how can other opinions and perhaps the best opinions be heard? My Dad told me only one thing when I started my own company, he said, Dennis, always hire people smarter than you. Further to his comments on leadership, Mr. DesRosiers introduces another issue, which is rarely addressed, one attributable to the lack of success that he refers to as an, entitlement culture. He said, After many decades of strong employment and wages it is not surprising that an entitlement culture evolved. But an entitlement culture is troubling in a competitive global marketplace.Global players work for their market share; they are not entitled to anything. And acting like a victim when you dont get what you are entitled to makes matters worse. Perpetual entitlement/victim-hood stifles the need for change on the corporate side of the equation a belief that it is just a matter of time before what is rightfully yours will come back prevents companies from innovating with new processes and aggressively introducing and experimenting with new technologyOn the political frontvictim-hood is blaming your troubles on every other level of Government except your ownafter all, ifonly those Feds or those at Queens Park would help us everything would be all right! In my opinion Dennis DesRosiers expertise goes far beyond the automotive industry!
